The Pocket Bike
A pocket bike, also known as a mini bike, which is a miniature version of a motorcycle. They are designed to look like their larger motorcycle counterparts. Most are designed to look like miniature racing bikes. They are very durable and built for racing.
The pocket bike is approximately 2 feet in height, 3 feet in length and weighs around 50 pounds. They generally carry a 39cc to 50cc two-stroke engine and have a maximum horsepower of 17-18.
Pocket bikes are available in both electric and gasoline versions and have speeds around 35-45 mph. These bikes are built to perform best with high octane gasoline, with a 2-Stroke Motorcycle oil mixture of 25:1 when new and 50:1 later on.
These bikes have become popular for racing in the U.S. and although they look like a toy, they are not. They are recommended for children over the age of 12 and protective gear is a must. They are equipped with front and rear disc brakes, a centrifugal clutch and a hair-trigger throttle. These bikes are built for fast acceleration and should not be used without parental guidance. With that in mind you should have a wonderful experience with these bikes.
There are many sites online to order these bikes from and doing a search around your area will probably provide a few retailers offering these bikes. Prices seem to range from around $180-$700 or more depending on the style and equipment you buy. If you are a racing enthusiast, there are also upgrades available for more power and speed.
If your son or daughter seems interested in motorcycles, these bikes may be great beginners for teaching them to ride and how to properly handle a two wheeled motorized machine. They are also great machines for adult riders wanting to enter super pocket bike racing competitions or just having fun. The super pocket bike is much faster and a lot more to handle than its standard counterpart.
